RiverFest planned for Aug. 9 at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark

Get a better understanding and appreciation of the scenic Stillwater River and other
local waterways at RiverFest! Enjoy a free, fun-filled day of exploring along the
river, while learning how you and your family can be better stewards of our bountiful
network of rivers and streams in the Miami Valley.
- See fly-fishing demonstrations
- Try paddle sports like kayaking or canoeing
- Hike in nearby wetlands or identify seasonal wildflowers with naturalists
- Discover how to divert storm water to a beautiful rain garden in your yard
- Learn what makes a river healthy for fishing, swimming and drinking
- Meet animals that live in or near the river
- Build a miniature boat and race it down the river
- Find river plants and animals during a scavenger hunt
- Enjoy local bands and sing along with a river musician
- Learn eco-friendly practices from local organizations and clubs
Activities will take place throughout the day. Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase.
